Mason Chelootz surprises the Top Kart! men! The young Texan has won the stage in the first round of the Florida Winter Tour played last weekend in Palm Beach, showing great talent and a superfine skill in passing from one kart to another. The 15 year old from Houston, in fact, has experimented himself with six different classes, using four different engines, and always managing to close in the top ten, even with two wins.
The most significant result arrived in the Formula Kart Productions Rotax Max Challenge: in the first race with a Rotax engine after a year and a half, Chelootz was hoping at least to enter the top ten. A target centered already in the practice sessions, and after having obtained the 4th place in the pre-final, he gained a surprising success on Saturday Final, putting behind him a group made of high-rated names. The triumph was consumed in the sprint for just four cents (pictured).
On Sunday, qualifier 26th, the standard bearer for Top Kart finished 12th and 9th in the second pre-final: at the end the result was a bit tight for him, but it’s a great season start anyway.
On the occasion of the WKA Kartweek, Chelootz was measured at the Daytona International Speedway in Komet Heavy categories (win), Komet Lite (7th after some minor problems), Parilla Leopard (podium), TaG 1 (6th place) and TaG 2 (10th after recovering from an incident that involved him in the early stages).
Antonio Penna, manager of the Top Kart team congratulates all the drivers for the excellent results achieved, particularly with the young Chelootz: “In addition to an innate speed, Mason has confirmed himself like a real fighter, not a flinch in the face of challenges and who knows how to overcome the difficulties”.
